a good 3 inches. instead of the axle on a slightly downward angle its now at a constant upward angle even if the slight variation in angle played any part in it i'd thing the outer c.v. cup would take the damage.
being all that holds the inner axle shaft to the outer c.v. jointng is nothing more than a well developed c-clip.
(random thinking at this point) holding the outer c.v. joint the shaft slides through the center of the hub which gets torqued by the axle nut on the other side.
say by chance the hub (wheel hub) wasn't inserted through the wheel bearing fully and the outer c.v. joint shaft was torqued tight.
when the car takes a hard left turn the wheel hub will fully set leaving the axle nut loose when the car turns right the center race (split race) of the wheel bearing would split to allow the gap once again.
hmmm think i need to grab my torque wrench take a few hard left turns and tighten up the axle nut.
