hate to say this, but i think your crank shaft pulley Posted by nicknick [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Blown water pump, James, Sat, 20 Dec 2008 13:04:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
has failed. it is the only thing that links your power steering to your cooling system. it will also cause the alternator to turn too slowly (battery light) and the water pump to turn too slowly (over heat). Sooo, the way to confirm is to paint a line across all the pulleys on the crank, then turn engine over for a minute or two, then look at the line to see if it is broken up. Replacement is tricky, but without a/c you have an easier time of it (still have the a/c?). lots of write-ups on the subject, especially how to break that big bolt loose. Consider service items while in there-all belts, crankshft front seal (the one at the back, behind the crank pulley), oil pump seal (the one that looks like a rubber band), alternator mounting bushes, etc, but you probably have mostly new of all of these, right? after the new water pump, that is...
good luck
