Dead clutch slave removal.....possible solution?

I've read recently on this BB about solutions for removing a clutch slave cylinder that is not functioning. Has anyone ever tried opening the bleed screw and injecting wheel bearing grease with a hand grease gun and then closing the screw? The grease, being much thicker than brake fluid may seal the leak in the slave long enough to get the spacer in the pressure plate. This is just an idea, as I've never done it.
