It sounds like you have covered most if not all of the bases. A typical symptom of a disconnected or failing NTC is an idle speed of about 2000 to 2500 rpm. See that you replaced it. If you unplug the sensor does the idle speed change? It should, and if it doesn't perhaps you have a back contact in the connector body? I've seem the connact in the body pushed in such that it does not make connection when plugged in.
