I completed the head gasket replacement project on my 92 900T. All in all it went well, however other than an engine swap I have to say it was the most challenging project I've undertaken. In my favor I wasn't under time pressures or constraints, I have a decent garage and excellent tools. And a torch (for some of the 17 year old fasteners that wouldn't come free the "right" way!). I lost track of all the PITA items I encountered and overcame along the way. So be it... Now I have a couple of questions for some of the most knowledgeble on our board:

1. All my vitals are as they should be: runs smooth and strong; coolant is at level and holding; temp is good; boost is strong.

2. Under heavy acceleration I'm getting a lot of steam/smoke. I've run it maybe a total of 30 minutes, including idle time in the garage. Is this the result of left-over coolant in the muffler/exhaust? Based on how little coolant drained out of the radiator I know I pumped a lot thru the engine and exhaust when the head gasket blew.

3. Check engine light: Came on when first started; went out after a short drive; then came back on again...?

4. Idle hunting. Now that it's warmed up fully the idle is high, and hunting, between 1200 and 1800.

Other than these issues it's running great, and as I said all vitals are excellent. Your thoughts?
