Lots of good advice here. Spike's detaied circuit check is good. I think you said you had center console cover off and had ign switch wires exposed. If you have a good digital camera with a large view screen take several pictures from different angle and then still write down the wire positions on top of switch. Once disconnected the wires can be bundled together to strat your car (if it IS the switch taht is bad) the clips can interlock. Do this with the white, green, and yellow wires. There may be other wires attached to them or stripe of color but I can't see them on my picture phone. The red wire is your power line and the grey wire is your start wire. Hook the red one into the bundle and you should get dash lights etc. Touch the grey wire to the red one it shouls start the car. When started seperate grey wire from the red wire. Car should have started and cont' to run. Pull red wire from bundle to stop the engine. If this works and Spikes circuit check works it likely is the switch. HOWEVER sometimes there are linkage issues in the gears between the switch and the bottom of the key. regardless you will have to remove or at least put on it's side the shifting mechanism. This may require a special tool for the 3 prong nuts or some other substitute tool . Good luck. Let us know how it goes. You can do it.
