Crawlpappy:
You should know, the rear badges are different for the hatch or the 4 door, the hatch has some curve to it where the badge goes so its backside is curved, the 4 door sits on flat panel and is flat on the back. Don't spend the money on the wrong one, especially if you're going for new. They can't be attached and made to stay.
I bought at dealer price for my first C900, but since then I've made lots of junkyard trips and have pulled several pristine badges, maybe $5 each, so I have a little collection.
The front badges are the same on later Saabs as well, so that widens your junkyard options.
On the front, they're held by two little prongs down into nylon bushings in the hood. Prongs go VERTICAL towards the ground, not straight out of back of the badge. Pry up, with care.
Rear badges are held with double-sided foam trim tape, in a round shape. You can pry them free or some have said, cut thru tape with dental floss. Put cardboard down under a putty knife if you pry yours off.
You can reattach junkyard ones with 3M trim tape, cut little strips to more or less cover the back, after rubbing all old tape off badge and car.
