Never overestimate the conductiveness of rust

Just wanted to thank everyone who offered advice with regards to my no start no dash lights issue. I spent time with my nose in the console yesterday and when the grey wire going to my ignition switch would drop to 0V whenever I connected it to the bundle of connectors in an attempt to 'hotwire' her into starting, I began to realize it was probably a grounding issue. And while I was nosing around under the hold she started. Then I wiggled the main ground point just below the distributor and she stopped. Wiggled again and she started. Doh. I had tested for continuity there many times, but it looks like not all the connections were making contact all the time, and the rust around where it was bolted is probably my issue. No matter, I now know where my problem lies, I have a greater understanding of the ignition system, I now have a shifter that doesn't have to be pushed past park to start, a coil that was totally fried is now replaced, and I now know that my head gasket needs to be replaced. (When she did start a nice shot of coolant spat out the tail)
Thanks, and talk to you guys when I'm pulling the head I'm sure. Fingers crossed I can return this ignition switch ;)
