answers to questions(long) plus questions Posted by DC saaber [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: thump, thump, thump.(long), DC saaber ![]() |
Vehicle has been undergoing a mini restoration of sorts, New (used) trans was installed when I first got the car due to slight pinion whine. At the same time I did all mounts so I can rule that out.
As JVA said the car still made the noise on the lift, so no tire issues, although all tires are new anyways and balanced by me, so I know they balanced out, and no weights have been thrown.
Both axles are new, and the problem was definately there before I installed them, so I think I can rule out axles. At this point I think I will swap the drivers from my old trans in, just as an experiment. I need something to take up my time this weekend right? I will probably just go ahead and do a wheel bearing on the d/s since it hasn't been done yet.
Question, would a wheel bearing make noise like that under no load ie running on a lift?
Question 2 should I be able to move my axles side to side, my old axles had probably a 1/2 inch of play the new ones have none at all?
As far as the lift goes, I got it free, although pretty worn out. My shop was upgrading all our lifts, along with the lift I have a spare motor/pump. After paying $500 for installation I had to drop another $200 or so on rebuilding both cylinders, a couple of pneumatic fittings for the lock release, and new fluid. Good as new now.
I would love to donate some lift time to someone with a cherry c900 so I could ride in, and perhaps drive one. I have been slowly but surely bringing my $500 turbo back to life and would love to see what I can expect some day
