I'm assuming that you mean you are getting a little slack between the sprockets. This CAN be normal when hand-turning the flywheel. The marks on the cam caps aren't always dead on. As long as they are both off the same amount when you turn the intake cam to take the slack out, you MAY be OK. I've started a car with the chain off by one link, you'll know right away if you screwed up. It's not a big deal to remove the valve cover and fix things if you did.
Hindsight is always 20/20, but you should have marked the components in several places before removal. Before disassembly, I usually put a paint mark on the sprockets and on the chain so I know without a doubt that they went back together properly. I also hand mark the cams and the caps. Next time... :-)
