The main idea is to check the ignition lock, the ignition relay (although I'm not sure if M86 cars have one), starter motor and solenoid.
Having your ignition on AND STICK IN THE NEUTRAL GEAR try the following:
- connect the solenoid's contact with smth under good 12V e.g. batt "+" terminal or alt's output terminal (the big one, not the thin one). Be careful not to ground the wire and get some "bagaboom" there.
If it gives a good wrooom and starts up then your solenoid is lacking of good 12V. Check ignition lock and wiring between ign lock and solenoid.
If there's not a single change after solenoid jump-start then your solenoid or the starter motor itself needs to be repaired (I'm assuming the wiring between the started and battery is in good condition; if I'm wrong then it should be the 1st step to go with). Also your battery should have 12.5V across its terminals (yes, I've read that you've replaced the batt but nevertheless)
