That looks like a really nice car. If it's got no rust, good top, and no obvious major problems, that's what incites all the "BUY IT"'s! Convertible pricing can be all over the map, so I won't comment, but it does look like a really nice car with a turbo, and an unusual, nice color even. If you like the idea of convertible ownership, and you can negotiate a price that you're happy with, I'm with them on that advice! 1 owner, accident free, rust free, dealer serviced, c900s are rare these days. If you get it, I also think it would be wise to garage it (if at all possible, but I know NYC=$$) to keep it in that condition... ours lives in a garage, and that's 1 of the reasons it is in better than average condition.
wrt to the automatic transmission + your intended use (mostly highway)... my advice is take it easy + don't push it, especially on the highway. 2 reasons: The 3 speed tranny can be surprisingly responsive, but to some degree at the expense of reliability. Also, highway fuel economy will be much worse than a stick (high cruising rpms), but particularly bad if you drive it hard + fast. My advice: don't push it, unless you like buying gas + want to do a tranny swap! Take it easy, change the atf regularly, and it may last a long time...
wrt Toyota Avalon, totally different cars... you'll have to push harder on the brakes + throttle in the Saab, but you will soon understand why this is better! If there is an actual issue with brakes (eg sticking calipers, and that is possible if the car sat for a while), that should come out of an inspection, and it is resolvable. Developing a good relationship with a good Saab indy is invaluable!
good luck + if you get it post some pics!
