I found top dead center and realize that my distributor cap was askew. I had it turned 1/4 off.
The plug wires are now on correctly. I still have the severe idle issue.
I have determined that it is cyl 2 & 3 not getting fuel. I measured the voltage for each injector and they are all getting power.
Here is my theory,,,. Somehow injectors 2 & 3 have become totally clogged. I've read at a site on injectors that 2 & 3 are the hottest cylinders and the injectors become clogged. I figure that since 2 & 3 are getting no fuel the feedback from the O2 sensor is causing the jetronic system call for more fuel causing 1 & 4 to stay open longer, causing a too rich mix, fouling the plugs.
I pulled the injectors and switched position and confirmed that it is the injectors and not the wiring.
What's next? I'm trying to locate known good injectors to swap out all 4. I tried cleaning by spraying carb cleaner but it didn't work. They might have been semi clogged before and the time spent sitting for months while I did the auto to manual conversion finished them. Either that or the anerobic sealer I used to seal the fuel fitting got washed into the injectors. finishing them off.
