Jim,
what's up? I do feel like I'm missing something, e.g. your issue history. Pls advise.
If you'd like to know how EZK works then that's the long story short:
- EZK ECU is told what's going on by:
- - crank position sensor (based on hall-effect sensor) that is reporting on current RPM value
- - Jetronic ECU that has output signal that is telling the engine load (this works almost as MAP sensor: that signal's duty cycle is proportional to intake pressure)
- - throttle position sensor that is telling whether the throttle is closed or not
- - knock sensor that gives the overview about noises happening in the engine; if there's to much specific noise then ignition is being retarded until the noise disappears and then it's being restored until either it hits the ignition map value or the noise happens again
- EZK trigger's ignition coil basing on the ignition map and input data
- ignition coil generates high voltage pulse that goes thru dizzy (dumb one, in that dizzy there's no mechanical or vacuum advance implemented) that forwards that pulse to the spark plug of the cylinder where air-fuel mixture is to be ignited. Spark plug transforms the high-voltage pulse into the spark itself
That's it. I don't really know whether this helps you or not, sorry.
