Hans and Zig,
Thanks for your feedback on this. I always use hightest fuel and the timing problem (if it is in fact timing) manifests itself at cruising speeds over 75mph. In order to maintain this velocity I have to REALLY press on the the go pedal. It feels like I'm pulling a trailer full of bricks, whether on flat or uphill road conditions. As for 'at rest' timing issues, always in the past when I checked the timing it would react as previously mentioned by jumping from 14 to 28 or 30 degrees at about 3000 revs. THIS is the 'change' in the scenario that I'm chasing. I feel this is where the trailer full of bricks might be.
Again TIA for your help.
JIM.
