Hi, I am reviving my clutch due to leaking slave. The clutch has been fine other than the leak from the slave.

My question is what should I reuse and what should I replace? The car is a 1993 turbo with 80k. I have removed the entire clutch assembly and the fly wheel.

I plan on rebuilding the slave, it was kind of gunked up but no rust and no pitting or gouges. I also plan on reusing the pressure plate.

The clutch disk is 1/4 inch, or approx 6.3mm thick at the edge measured with a micrometer. Should this be replaced? I searched the board and from what I found a new clutch is under 8mm. I think Bentley says that at 2mm the clutch disk should be replaced. But I think the 2mm measurement is done looking at the length of exposed shaft on the slave cylinder, I don't know if that means the disk itself is only 2mm. That seems kind of thin.

There is a fair amount of grease/oil in the void under the flywheel. I assume this is oil from the rear main seal, but I am not sure. I cleaned it out and it was thick and black, like cooked oil. The back of the flywheel was kind of a rust color, but no signs of fresh oil as I have heard can happen. Does this indicate that the rear main seal is leaking, should I replace it anyway?

Should I replace the pilot bearing, the clutch shaft seal, and the release bearing regardless of the condition of these items? I have an extra car and a garage to work in and I do enjoy working on the car so I don't mind taking a little risk, but want to avoid missing something I should do while everything is apart.

From my perspective I would rather rebuild the slave than purchase a new OEM, because I think that the rebuild will hold and spending over $100 for a new slave is not worth the slightly increased peace of mind.

Thanks, and sorry for the rambling.
