In a leak down test, rather than having the engine crank and compress air as in comes in and measure how high the compression gets, with variables such as wet and dry and how many times did you crank it...
You put the piston at top dead center and install the leak down tester and apply compressed air to it. the either the system will hold that pressure, will leak a little (gauge to measure the % leak, there will usually be some leakage and an acceptable range is given), or will leak allot. If it leaks allot, you will be able to hear it leak from the intake plenum (meaning intake valve is not seating completely), or you will hear it leak from the exhaust pipe (exhaust valve same as intake) or you will hear it leaking via the oil filler tube (rings). Do a google search on "leak down test" and you will get a wealth of information. The test kit in many of the pictures or videos you will find looks suspiciously like the one available from Harbor Freight for $40...
That being said. if you are getting blow by chances are that your rings are not doing it. how many miles on the car?
