I can only think that the pressure plate fingers are being depress more fully then when the master cylinder wasn't working fully. There is a point when the pp finger past the maximum pivot arch point that will give a more forceful feeling. The metal sound will probably be something to do with the throwout bearing or fork. Have to take a closer look. You'll figure this one out. Not much more to it!
