So I have been troubleshooting and chasing an idle issue recently on my 1992 900 turbo.
Vacuum lines appear fine although you know how that goes. Plugs were fouled so I replaced them. Slight idle improvement or did I imagine it? Ha!
I decided to swap out the o2 sensor today but for the life of me can't get the dang thing off. 7/8 wrench is too long. Two different modified tools from my local hobby shop didn't even work. (Modified socket and wrench) What's up with the wall on one side of the sensor and why does it need to be upside down!!??
Normal sockets will fit between the wall and the sensor but won't go over the wire unless you cut them. So I did! Course the socket wasn't deep enough. oooops!
Anyway the car runs the same. Except I think the check engine light was more prominent once the car warmed up.
Guess I'll order the tool off Eeuroparts.com for 16.00.
Perhaps I should swap out the water temp sensor. It has an idle issue when it's cold that is more severe and stalls the Saab out killing the battery if I'm not quick with the gas.
