Hey everyone, here is an important update on ScanTech heater valves.
ScanTech replied to me right away, and said that the problems they have heard about with the heater valves have been fixed. What I'm not sure of is they have heard about every problem. But they have been very helpful and responsive and I think we should work with them as best we can, and here is why:
Scantech is our source of parts as more OEM's are discontinued. If they don't succeed, we will not be able to continue to drive our classic Saabs, unless one or more of us want to start our own parts manufacturing facility (I'd as soon not, if I can help it).
They sent me a valve straight from Sweden to make sure it is from the new, good batch (though they also say all the old valves _should_ have been recalled). I am going to install it with no tricks, and put it to the test. If anything goes wrong, they will be the first to hear about it and I won't let up until it is right.
If we all do this with all our parts, we'll be able to keep driving our Saabs for a long time. I'll keep you all posted!
