"Pinion bearing upgrade" is not a selling point. 1989 was the year that Saab first installed the slightly larger rear pinion bearing so it came from the factory with that. These transaxles typically (there are ocassional exceptions) need new bearings at 150,000 miles whether they have the larger rear pinion bearing or not so factor that in as you decide on the value of the car. Mileage isn't a big factor for most of the parts of these cars, certainly not the engines, they can go forever if well maintained. The transaxle is the one part that demands serious consideration as there is no cheap way to fix it (properly). Good luck
