88 900s.
I changed my distributor and wanted to check the timing so I bought a timing light.
I starter the car and let it warm up.
I hooked it up to wire number one and pulled the trigger.
I got a reading of 29 on the fly wheel.
The Bentley says on page 340-15 that the timing mark on the fly wheel and clutch housing should be aligned. Figure 33 shows the mark at zero (TDC) but the book says the timing should be 14 BTDC.
My question is how do you know where 14 degrees before top dead center is? Will it say 14 on the flywheel? Or will it say 0 on the flywheel like the photo?
Also, when I cleaned out the throttle body a few weeks ago I removed the throttle position sensor. I think this may have been a mistake because I am not sure if I put it back correctly. Is there a trick to this? Will this affect my reading? Please answer because I have to make a 260 mile drive tonight so I can be at a funeral tomorrow. Thanks everyone.
