Slyde,
When you go to reset the chain on one of the sprockets you should first remove the tensioner or at least the plug that pushes on the spring. Otherwise as soon as you create slack in the chain by popping the sprocket off of the cam the tensioner will extend all the way and you won't have enough slack to be able to put the sprocket back on. The simple approach is like SWEDECAR says, remove the tensioner and then employ the slack on that side to skip the chain over the sprocket by one tooth then replace the tensioner with the plug removed and the foot fully retracted, then the plug. As mentioned, once it's all set up roll the engine a few times and check that the timing marks come up the same each time.
