for you. Engines are never a problem on these cars-the odd timing chain failure being the main exception. I have done head gaskets on motors with over 180k on them and you can still see the honing marks. In fact, i just put a motor in my SiS that had 180k on it, runs like new.
I have a few motors sitting in the shop right now. My '88 spg motor is the one i would recommend the most. Currently sitting on a busted trans, and either the valve guides or turbo seals had just started to show a small puff of smoke upon startup. I assume your turbo is good? I'll sell it to you for $100. I have at least 2 others, but i have less knowledge of them.
Personally, at this point, i would buy this motor for $100, put a new timing chain/guides, head gasket, front and rear seals and oil pump gasket in and you would have a beauty for very little cash.
