Well, I just repaired a similar size rust hole on the drivers side for about $300, including the cost of having a body shop cut out and weld in new metal and spray undercooating. These two rust holes are the only rust on the entire car. A-arm frame is flawless, and no body rust at all. It just had a leak in the front that rusted those two spots out.
I intend on keeping the car for quite a while. I just flew to Georgia to pick it up a few months ago, so I'm not going to let a couple of easily fixed rust holes stop me! haha. It is now in the northeast, but the sensitive areas will be finished getting coated with POR15 before it sees it's first real winter.
Is there anything I'm missing here?
