I sent my TE05 to 900Aero for rehab and put in a 15T wheel. This turbo had a loose shaft, but not bad -- it would have caused a problem eventually, but didn't leak. The 15T has an interesting profile -- you could tell immediately that there was a vast performance change. It has more mid band power than the 16G in a TE05, but not as much sustained or elevated charge pressures.
The rebuild took about a week or so -- the improvement using the 15T wheel cost more, but it was worth it.
A friend used the SD charger stuff with poor results. Eventually, the shaft bearing seized and put metal into the sump picked up and sent to the oil pump ending in oil pump failure.
