Fuel pump not running
action: jumped between sockets 30 and 87B of fuel pump relay to see if pump would run.
result: fuel pump relay 30 amp fuse blew. Short circuit on the electrical line to the fuel pump?
action: jumped directly from battery to fuel pump. result: pump worked.
action: tried reading voltage at fuel pump connection terminal when cranking. result: no voltage.
action: checked relay for "clicking" sound when applying 12V. result: relayed "clicked". Also tried a new relay but still no power to pump when trying to start.
action: checked voltmeter reading across terminals 86 and 85 of fuel pump relay when starter is cranked. result: battery voltage is present (around 4V +/-).
Additional info:gas tank and pump replaced three years ago because of cracked tank. Salvaged parts came from SAAB 9000 137K. Any suggestion about what may be wrong and what to look for would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.
