Something else great about these TE05's is that their turbine wheel has an even larger major diameter than even a TD05H and only a little smaller exducer diameter, this combination (trim value) does spool-up faster! They also have a wider bearing stance than a TD05 because they were designed to be a direct replacement for the T3 Garrett and the bearing housing needed to have a large enough area for the original flanged oil feed line to fit. I've been trying some different compressor wheel combination's on TE05's. We used a 15T wheel in Landjet's to keep the volume down for use as a LPT upgrade for a 2.1 N/A however he ended up using it in a 2.0 turbo for the time being and he said "you could tell immediately that there was a vast performance change. It has more mid band power than the 16G in a TE05, but not as much sustained or elevated charge pressures." With the 15T wheel only having a .75mm larger diameter inducer and and even smaller (-2mm) major diameter than a 12B wheel it's impressive that it made a "vast performance change" in a full pressure turbo application. Now I'm anxious to do a TE05-'19T' which has a 2.25mm larger inducer than a 12B and the same 58mm size exducer. The reason these 'T' wheels perform so close to a 16G is because they not only share the high-low blade design but have a .635mm higher overall blade height. My goal with the 19T upgrade is to have the spool-up so close to the stock 12B wheel that any difference won't be noticeable and that top end will be so close to a 16G wheel that it won't be a noticeable difference either! I've done both 16G and B16G upgrades and the B16G does generate higher boost levels at a little lower RPM's but the spool-up isn't quite as good. I'm also going to try a EVO X wheel that's the same as a B16G but with a 1mm smaller inducer as the spool-up will be a little better but I want to know what the top end will be like as compared to a 16G? All in all it's hard to beat a 16G upgrade but my 19T idea will prove that one way or another!
