I find it is funny to see the different opinions of these cars... I also love the solidity + ease of repair (at low cost) of the c900s... our indy seems to share this view. 9-5 can be fantastic, but it seems much care is required to find the right one + keep it up to snuff. Parts are more expensive.
like the others said, serpentine belt sounds like a reasonable root cause - depending on the maintenance history you could be overdue for a new belt, or just a bad pulley if the po did the belt + didn't change the pulleys with the belt. That's one of the key maintenance items in that car. The turbo in the Aero is normally considered to be virtually bullet proof (unlike the Garrett in the LPT). Sounds like you might have an expensive mess. I hope not! You should ask on the 9-5 board... in the meantime, enjoy driving the spg!
The big thing with the c900 is even when I blew a hg, and another time when I burnt a valve on the highway, the engine was relatively easily repairable + we made it home in both cases...
