LOL... Hi Slyde - yes, they do grow on you. They're actually quite "fluid" looking in the flesh - rather than in photographs.
Yes, you can still buy Bosch CIS injectors brand new. I paid AU$70 (US$70.01 hehe..) each for the ones I just bought. You'll need to specify the model of car you wish to purchase them for as lengths and cracking pressures are all different for different makes. I have it on authority from another Enduro owner that the system is pretty tolerant of this though - and he experimented with Bosch CIS injectors designed for Porsches, Ferraris and VW's to come up with his favourite mix. The ones for the Saab are p/n# 0 437 502 012 which are also used in the '79 Porshe 928.
I didn't do anything to the fuel distributor at all apart from clean it out a little.
The red ignition leads were just there when I bought the vehicle. They'll be going soon and I haven't decided what to replace them with yet. I'll certainly be replacing the cable tidies that are missing so that they're not touching anything.
In comparison to my slightly tweaked 16v (running 14lb boost) it seems to me to be a somewhat smoother engine all round. It certainly pulls much harder in first gear than my 16, but also runs out of puff earlier at the top end. Horses for courses - it's great to have both as they each have their own character. Do I prefer one over the other? No. They're both wonderful motors.
