I stuffed my entire exhaust area with big blankets and set the head down onto that 'surface' before placing the head down onto the guides...I also used a coat hanger and wire to keep the guides and chain together and to 'guide' them through the hole in the head Before I lifted it off of the blankets.
I remember having a blanket on the side of the car too, so I could put a lot of weight onto my hips when lifting.
How'd you go about fixing the chain guides, and if you pulled the engine, why didn't you put the head on while the engine was out?
