I've gotten used to the 20-some-odd rattles given to my 900 by Somerville/Medford/Cambridge Roads in the past three years.
Yes, you'll have to replace ball joints...whatever. Bearings? they're probably old anyway. bummer though since they take so much work to get out/in (time).
I find that my steelies with snow tires are much more forgiving than the aeros I drive in the summer...and the winter is when there are even MORE potholes.
Advice: learn your route, remember the holes, swerve ahead of them.
Oh, and honk at some one every day...if you don't know why, they do.
