As oldsaab said the compression ratio is determined by the piston not the head. There are four 16 valve versions in all, the '84, '85 & real early '86 with the smaller (symmetrical) intake ports that had 3mm less valve lift on one each of the lobes. Then the lter '86 to '88 1/2 with the cam cap oiling system, the '88 1/2 to '93 with internal oiling and as oldsaab mentioned the '91 to '93 heads that had the turbo water line provision nearer the turbo on the distributor end of the head. The later '86 through '93 heads have non-symmetrical intake ports rather than the different intake lobes, one each of the intake ports has it's roof lowered! I and many others here go to '91 to '93 2.1 Classic 900 non-turbo heads with normal intake ports which is the same head as a '91 to '93 9000 head both turbo or non-turbo.
