The 16 valve was available in 1984 but there were only a handful of them in the US, they were Pearl White with Colorado Red Leather interior and the early Aero body kit with a Whale Tail! A friend of mine in Lompoc CA has one and Mike Connoly in RI also has one. The '85 head has a smaller combustion chamber volume but the piston has a larger dish. These engines do feel like they have have "more go" because their smaller intake ports create more velocity as does the different intake cam lobe lifts. My 16 valve '78 model 99 was built with an '85 engine and it literally jumps out from under you from a standing start so I'm considering building the new engine for it with an '85 head with reshaped intake ports.
