Just broke the locking hinge stem on the rear window. It's the first short hinge joint thats attached to the interior seating mechanisn for the knob when windows closed. It sheared in half. Window got caught and I really pulled on the knob like an idiot to close it. Its gotten more and more difficult to close and I neglected to take a look at it. Would just torque it until it closed.
Picture a compound fractured forearm in which the hand would be the black interior seating pod for the knob whilst the elbow and arm is connected to the window. The window just flops now and doesn't seal. Used black electrical tape for now to keep it closed but not sealed. Just poured rain and my back seat is wet wet wet. sheesh
This joint appears to absorb all the torque and stress when opening closing the rears I surmise. Don't wanna have to replace the entire window but may be only recourse.
Is it possible that an industrial strength epoxy or steel settling agent would be strong enough to mend and withstand stress? This seems to be a hard plastic material?
Its the easiest fix I believe outside of just getting the window and mechanism at salvage and replacing the entire thing. Which is what I don't wanna do.
Please advise... and Thanks
