Have been working on car (85 900T) since November. Rebuilt both engine wiring harnesses. Have addressed other projects along the way. Hooked up battery . . . .stupidly connected pos to neg and vice versa for less than a second. Connected correctly and turned key to power. Voltmeter came up, seat belt buzzer did its thing, water pump for liquid intercooler started spinning. Charged water pump and let it cycle for a couple of minutes. Decided to crank engine and circulate oil, plus to make sure it would spin....coil wire is disconnected, along with turbo to throttle body plumbing. When I went to crank the engine all power ceased. I returned key to off position, put back to power...nothing. Then, I disconnected and reconnected the battery. Turned to power and was back to water pump running, voltmeter registering power, and buzzer. Did not try to re-crank. Any thoughts out there. Never disconnected the started or starter power cable. I did find one wire that was never connected to starer during wiring rebuild...it is now reconnected. Never messed with ignition wiring at key. I rebuilt that part of the engine wiring that has a ground point at front of frame. It is cleaned up and connected.
