Enthusiasts,
Why is the 900s, faster in pick up, and acceleration? At first, I thought it was the transmission gearing(primary set-up) yet after replacement of the box that was from a later eighties turbo-same great pick up and smoothness up the rpms band. So, I assuming it isbthe fuel management, or the 2.1 mechanicals(better breathing?) My question is can I bolt on a Turbo without having to change computers or install APC? I always run premium-even on the S.
The car is well done, yet there is something about that 900s,lettering on the trunk and the relatively empty engine, that makes me feel that I am not driving one of the true beasts. I always had Turbos, saved for EMS and a couple of GLEs.
I would bolt on watercooled Turbo, oil cooler, and all else- minus the electronics. Would the engine run like a bat out of h, or would I end up ruining the engine, for the timing is not retarded, and the compression not lowered. I am not a racer, yet a bit of Turbo boost once and a while-gradually speaking ought to be safe less APC-correct. Of course, I could turn to a genuine Turbo, and its slow pick-up. Then again, the latest Turbo I have piloted was an 88-maybe the later ones are faster-pick up wise?
