Hey Jim-watch out for the chain guide, on the way off Posted by nicknick [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Tips, JLitten007 ![]() |
and back on. The chain timing is relatively easy to do, but remarkably easy to screw up. The thing is to actually look at how things are looking at TDC BEFORE you take it apart. Pull the valve cover, then rotate to #1TDC, with the flywheel timing marks at 0 deg. That is the spot you go back to. Take a picture, Notice how one cam almost lines up with the bearing cover mark? This board is full of comments specifically about that one issue. Number of links or rollers between the marks at the edges of the sprockets? Depends if you are talking links or rollers...
In any case, when done pop her in 5th, and with one wheel jacked up, rotate the motor a few times and recheck. Do not plan on moving past this procedure until you can swear on your life that it looks like it did before you started. The car will run if you are one tooth off, and you may go round and around chasing the problem (don't ask)-you don't have the time for that.
BTW, on the look out for cvt doors for you, but bought the last cheap cvt i saw! sorry, you know how it goes. Shoot me emails or call with Q's while in the middle of the job, if you need. I also have any parts (including a head) you may need. Take care.
