Quick check method, no tools needed-ignition 'ON', Posted by nicknick [Email] (#731) [Profile/Gallery] (more from nicknick) on Sat, 4 Feb 2012 08:25:29 In Reply to: APC wiring, Nate, Fri, 3 Feb 2012 18:27:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
engine not running, locate 2 pin plug on top of radiator, in the middle between headlights, it is plugged into a little round brown solenoid with 3 hoses coming out of it. Unplug this connector, then reconnect it, listening for a 'click' when you do. I like to get it just touching, and make it click many times by 'making and breaking' the contact. Now you know 90% of your APC works.
Drive car with plug disconnected. You are now officially in 'base boost'. Is this less than you had before? If so, you should do a full 'tune-up'(standard basic maintenance), then check base boost pressure, and adjust wastegate as required to achieve 5.5psi or so.
BUT-get a Bently, as Zig suggested, and do some reading on the subject, both here and in the book. Don't do anything crazy until you have some understanding of the system, or you'll end up with a blown head gasket, or transmission, or both!
Good luck
