there are many many differences between an 85 and 89 and while there are parts you could use interchangeably, lots of them wont work or wont work well. if you need a parts car to keep an 89 in good shape, you want another 89, maybe an 88 or 90 turbo. the appearance did not change much over the years but the underpinnings evolved quite a lot between 85 and 89.
