Bob,
I used to address a main seal to... the driver :) (there's an old joke... R-rated: - What's the main deal for a tankman? - No spa-doody-os)
If you're referring to the crankshaft seal in the oil pump, then don't forget to also replace that o-ring which seals the oil pump cover onto the engine body. If you're referring to the crankshaft seal on the flywheel side, then you better also replace that ball-bearing once you go there. And the clutch. And the clutch cylinder. And the clutch line. Oh, don't forget about the air filter. And spark plugs, and the spark wires. Then we would come to the fuel filter, brake disks, pads, brake lines, new windscreen, headliner, VR, battery... Dude, you better trade it in and get yourself a new car!
But I have to say that those issues (brakes and engine oil leak) are different. And although each of them should be fixed up, I've got no clue on how you'd go with your speech to ABS/electrical specialist to also have him have a look at crankshaft seals.
Zig
P.S.
I used to have a leaky dizzy. I finally replaced it with a plug (and DI cassette), but then it started leaking out of the oil filler tube. Finally I did the compression test (and crankcase fumes pressure test) and found out that I've been driving it mainly on two cylinders and turbocharger. So before fixing the oil leak you better do the compression test too - just to find out what happens next.
