My god what a pain this has been.
I sourced the KYB's from Auto Parts Warehouse. The rears are item #KYKG5558
The driver side was a real mother and I had to do some fancy maneuvering to get the shock in. Including removing the bushing beforehand and reinstalling it after the shock was roughly in place. That was a nightmare and I tore the bushing while installing it and had to use the bushing from the other side since it was clear I wasn't going to get it done without purchasing another bushing - which I have since found out is no longer offered individually and only if I purchase a whole shock assembly. Dammit.
I finally managed to removed the stuck bottom bolt on the passenger side (grinder, hammer, air-saw, swearing, etc.) and that shock virtually leaped out in comparison and I was able to compress it up enough to pull it out of the side - and it looks like the new shock will hopefully go in the same way.
Running to town to see if there is a parts store open on a Sunday that just happens to have a Saab shock in stock. Might have to wait for tomorrow.
I pride myself on being handy enough to do damn near anything to fix a car, but I think I'm going to swallow my pride in the future and just have the rear shocks done at a mechanic.
Thanks again for walking me through this! I'd buy you a beer if you were around!
