You can also just gently fold the circuit foil away from the back and wire bulbs independently (put a piece of electrical tape over the foil so it doesn't inadvertently contact the bulb holder). I did this a couple of years ago before I replaced my speedo. Get the superbrightLEDS. com bulbs then solder wires to them and wire them up to a switched circuit. Ideally, wire them into the headlight switch. I've always thought it was sort of stupid to have them on all the time, since it is such contortion act to get the damn things in and out of the back through the speaker hole!
