The knee bolster is a bit tough first time, but easier once you understand how it is held in place. As you know, there are three bolts that need to be removed at the outset: the two 10 mm bolts at flanks and then the weird bot behind the ashtray.
The key is to know that the bolster has clips that slide upwards into brackets, and so after you remove those bolts, you have to move the unit down and then out.
[It's been a while, but I think there is one other part to the removal: I'm pretty sure you have to remove the heater distribution manifold-- a black piece beneath the bolster. IIRC, there are two or three expose torx screws and at least two that are recessed into the ventilation ducts.] Drop the manifold and then work the lower panel down.
Good luck, you can do this!
