Vvack,
Some of the tears in the turbo plumbing can be very nefarious. The first time this happened to me it was obvious: an easy to spot tear in the elbow piece just north of the turbo (well, it was easy to spot once I'd disassembled the damn thing, anyway).
the second time nearly drove me crazy. All the same symptoms, but when I tore it down everything looked fine. Scratched my head, put it back together and got the same symptoms. I eventually discovered a 1" tear in the rubber sleeve where the aluminum elbow joins the throttle body. It was a concentric tear (and damn near impossible to see) right next to the hose clamp. Lesson learned: examine each piece by giving it a gentle twist or pulling on it slightly.
These kind tears are tight at idle, but open up under boost and play absolute hell on the fuel air mixture as boost rises. Good luck.
