Pop the covers in the trunk first to check that area.

A high-mileage 89 I used to own had a rust hole develop in the filter itself. The hollow bolts into the filter were in fact fine, as were the banjo fittings, though both bolts and banjo fittings were heavily rusted. One of the bolts was so rusted away it needed a much smaller socket to remove it, and I replaced it with one off the fuel rail from a junkyard car, same size.

You should be able to actually see the fuel filter, to see if that's where it's leaking. If it is, a pain-in-the-neck Torx head sheet metal screw holds a strap around its middle that keeps it in place, rusted too and no fun to get off. And you need to hold filter in place and be gentle with the plastic fuel lines while cracking the banjo bolts free, not easy. And once bolts are cracked free, gas drips from the lines and the filter itself, on you if you're not careful, and keeps dripping a long time.
