Maybe clogged radiator? Posted by JerseySaab [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Radiator, HG, something else causing overheating?, Saab Junkie, Sun, 2 Sep 2012 04:54:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
There are a lot of things that can cause cooling problems. Clogged radiator, collapsing hose, bad water pump, etc.
When you turn on the heat you're essentially adding another radiator in the circuit to get rid of the excess heat, my bet would be a radiator problem. Even if it looks OK on the outside it might be clogged internally. Fortunately radiators on these cars are not terribly expensive and are relatively easy to replace.
This is assuming of course that the car really is overheating (temperature gauge climbs all the way up to the red) and it's not just a problem with the gauge, sending unit, or a bad ground causing the reading.
