The bane of 900T owners are vacuum leaks. Check (or just replace) all of your vacuum hoses and rubber bushings that hold the vacuum nipples to the intake manifold and valve cover. There's also a rubber bushing where the PCV hose stabs into the plastic turbo inlet duct that can develop a leak.
I had a hard starting issue on my '89 SPG for years. The culprit turned out to be the large PCV hose. It had become brittle after 23 years of hard use and had developed a crack that let in unmetered air so it was running too lean at start.
Unfortunately, the PCV hose is unavailable for 900 turbos.
I cut out the cracked portion, spliced in a length of 1/2" heater hose and wrapped the splice to prevent a leak at the splice. Fortunately, the place that it was cracked was right at the PCV nipple, so I only had to cut out a couple of inches of the original hose.
It now fires up after one crank.
