...with most peoples' nature. (Trying to solve this one for you on a human traits basis.) He may be a mean vengeful SOB but it doesn't seem likely that he'd damage your car. If he did there are LOTS of ways to do it that would be difficult to diagnose, as well as many that would be car-destroying.
I'm not sure how familiar you have been in the past with the contents of that glovebox, but in an older car, lots of odd pieces, of your car or others, have a way of turning up in such places from prior owners' various projects.
Just finding an empty relay socket too doesn't mean anything either because there are a few not ever installed, and a few blank ones.
Look close again at the basics, spark, fuel, and compression, and you will eventually figure this out.
