Geez, sounds like a real bummer of a guy. I recently had a friend offer his basement apartment to a guy who was in school, broke, and soon to be married. He seemed like a really good guy, but I think may have started using drugs or something because all of a sudden he just turned bad and really made a jerk of himself. Even though my friend was being really generous, he just disrespected him, his family, and his friends up and down. Too bad. Sounds like it's nothing as bad as what you're dealing with though. What a jerk.
Anyway, sorry I can't be of more help. I agree with Justin's post - I can't think of any relay that would cause your problem if removed - especially a 3-prong. Maybe check for sabotage around the distributor - electrical plug removed from the dizzy, ignition wires disconnected from the cap or the coil, cap or rotor disconnected, etc. Those would be pretty easy for him and are common to any car.
